The Convener of the Yoruba Development and Unity Initiative, also known as Yoruba Mandate Group, Akogun Banji Ojo has reacted to the ongoing controversy surrounding the establishment of the South West Security Outfit, Operation Amotekun.

Recall that the Federal Government of Nigeria had earlier declared the outfit illegal leading to public outcry.

In his words, Akogun Banji Ojo stated that the State House of Assemblies of the South West states should create bye laws that would guide the operation of the Movement, citing that this is one of the due processes employed by the Northern leaders during the establishment of the Hisbah Police in the Northern States.

“Traditional Rulers should also reconvene as well as support and give useful advices that will make the establishment of the outfit worthwhile”. He added.

He however urged the Yoruba citizens to avoid Social Media Bants and desist from attacking the Northerners on Social Media but should rather be straightforward and table useful ideas to concerned authorities.
