Ademola Adeleke is qualified to be Osun state’s governor – Appeal Court

The Appeal Court in Akure has ruled in favour of Ademola Adeleke who contested in the last Osun governorship election, saying he is qualified to be the state’s governor.

This is coming after a High Court in Bwari, Abuja, declared Ademola as being ineligible to contest the election due to his secondary school certificate which was declared invalid thus making it impossible for him to satisfy the minimum requirement for eligibility to contest the election.

The ruling was appealed by Adeleke and his legal team which they have now won after the appellate court allowed the appeal on the grounds that the complainant, Awosiyan Kingsley, did not have the locus standi. A case of lack of jurisdiction to entertain the matter was also established.

A counsel to Adeleke, Nathaniel Oke, while reacting to the new ruling said the latest judgment cancels the judgment of an Abuja High Court.
