A blind student was found hanged in her university room with her loyal guide dog by her side.

Jade Clements, 24, was in her final year of biomedical sciences course at Keele University when she took her own life.

According to the UK Sun, the university’s security staff entered her room after friends raised concerns about the student.

After gaining entry, security found Jade’s guide dog Toffee pacing up and down her dorm room, reported Stoke On Trent Live.

Security arrived just five minutes after Jade sent out a final distressing message, making it too late to be able to save her.

Jade’s heartbroken family are now paying touching tributes to their late daughter, describing her as a “total inspiration” who had “courage, infectious smile and mischievousness”.

Jade’s father, Brian Clements, said: “After her death, we decided to raise funds for the charity Guide Dogs as they had supported her with Toffee.

“She had had him for about 18 months and he gave her independence.
