Jussie Smollett is currently looking at major prison time if he did not tell the entire truth about being a victim of a hate crime, legal and public relations experts have said.
The actor and singer got beat up by two guys who racially abused him and used homophobic slurs.
Jussie Smollett’s co-actors like Ellen Page and Zendaya and popular celebrities like Sen. Kamala Harris have shown their support for the actor.
However, there are now doubts surrounding Smollett’s side of the story with the cops investigating if he indeed paid two guys, Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo to act out the attack.
If Jussie is guilty of this, the charge is a Class 4 felony in Illinois and it attracts a potential sentence of 1 to 3 years in prison.
Or he can be asked to settle restitution to cover for the wasted cost of the Chicago Police Department investigation.
We can only hope he did not lie.
