A man has been charged with murder for killing his 27-year-old girlfriend.
According to reports,m the man murdered his girlfriend because she opened his bottle of Jameson whiskey to take a sip without his permission.
The 35-year old man from Tswelopele near Midrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, had reportedly told everyone in his household only he has the right to open the bottle of Jameson whiskey in the house.
His fiancee, Palesa Moloi, 27, however, saw the whiskey inside the cupboard and opened it to take a sip. Upon finding out, he stabbed her several times for disobeying him.
Police boss Captain Bernard Matimulane said when his men arrived at the crime scene which is the couple’s rented room, the drunken suspect was found staring at Palesa’s body.
Matimulane said:
When police interrogated him, he told them he killed the woman because she opened his bottle of whiskey and drank some while he was not around.
He told the cops only he, as the head of the household, was entitled to open the liquor.
He claimed it was his culture.
The suspect has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrates Court on Thursday.
