Isis leader who burned pilot alive in a cage is finally caught

An Isis commander who burned a Jordanian pilot to death in a cage has been captured.

Saddam al-Jamal was one of four leaders detained by security forces in Iraq on Wednesday,AFP reports.

Officials in Iraq used the mobile phone of an already captured Isis leader to lure the group to the country from Syria, it has emerged.

Al-Jamal masterminded the killing of downed pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh, 26, in 2015, authorities in Jordan say.

The Royal Jordanian Air Force pilot was shot down in Raqqa, Syria, in December 2014.

Isis released a video a few weeks later of the pilot being burned alive in a cage. Al-Jamal has been accused of taking part in a massacre in Syria in 2014, which killed 700 members of a tribe that rose up against Isis

He is also said to have ordered the execution of children, often in front of their parents.

And in 2014, Iraqi officials claimed al-Jamal had murdered an entire family after the parents prevented the daughter from marrying him.
