Taxify driver killed by robbers who sold his car for N350k

Lagos police command has arrested two persons who met while in Kiriki prison and formed a robbery group upon release. The men were arrested for reportedly killing a Taxify driver, snatching his vehicle and selling it off.

police arrested the suspects; Simon Tyozemda, 27, from Benue State and Lucky Friday, 24, from Delta State on Wednesday, 14th March 2018. They were caught with two knives in an Uber operated cab.

 Simon according to report ordered for an Uber cab by 11:00 p.m last week on his girlfriend’s phone however in a bid to lure the driver to a desolate location to carry out their evil plan. Upon killing the driver and fleeing, the suspects were nabbed RRS officers who stopped the car for a stop and search, on the lonely Lekki – Epe Expressway, Lagos.

Further investigations revealed the robbers had sometime in February, 2018, committed the same offence. They stole a Taxify car, along Badore Road, Ajah at about 2:00 a.m and sold it to one Mohammed Usman for N350,000, and then killed it’s Godfrey Ovie.

RRS Decoy Team upon the conclusion of the investigation arrested Usman who had only paid N100,000 and was to move the vehicle to Jigawa.

Simon, who used to be a security guard before becoming a stylist in Badore spoke to newsmen;

“I met my colleague, Lucky Friday in Kirikiri Prison. Our first operation was where we killed Ovie. I stabbed him in the stomach twice and I dropped him off the vehicle on the road in Badore, Ajah at after 2:00 a.m.

We threw away the knives and bought new ones for the fresh operation we were arrested for. Before killing him, I placed the order to Taxify cab to pick us up at Lamgbasa, at past 11:00 p.m.”
