The Kenyan police have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly beating his mother due to her refusal to buy him a new phone and cook his favorite meal.
The man identified as Alphonce Onyango is now facing charges of assault in Umoja Estate. According to reports, Onyango demanded his elderly mother, Josephine Okoth, served him managu (African nightshade) and beef. She was said to have been cooking for the family when Onyango arrived and began to demand his favorite dish, ‘managu,’ with beef and ugali.
His mother, however, told him they had not prepared what he wanted and this got him irked as he began to throw around threats, saying he would mess up whatever she was already cooking.
Onyango continued saying his mother liked his younger brother more than she does him, as she even got him a new phone.
The mother, according to prosecution brushed him saying he was a grown man, a statement that further irked Onyango.
He began to roughen his mother up and even threatened to clobber her. his father arrived just in time and tried to calm him down but instead, Onyango turned on his father and beat him up before leaving.
The case was reported to the police by the parents and Onyango was eventually arrested.
He, however, denied all charges levelled against him, pleading for leniency.
He was eventually set free on Sh10,000 cash bail and the case adjourned to June 11, 2018.
