His residence in Birnin Yero, near Kaduna, was stormed by the abductors at about 1:30 am on February 28th. Nasir told newsmen the men asked for him from his wife and when she could not produce him, they took her and their son away. Nasir added that his neighbour Sabitu Abdulhamid, an FRSC officer who had come out to challenge the abductors was killed in the process.

Speaking on his family regaining their freedom, Nasir said they were released on Friday at Sabon Birni, a village near Kaduna International Airport. he said the kidnappers contacted him to pay a N12 million ransom, and failure to do so could result in the death of his wife and son. After much appealing, the ransom was brought down to N2 million. Once payment was made, they released his family.
