News producer suspended for using N-word on neighbor’s girlfriend

A Florida television producer was suspended after a neighbor filmed her using a racial slur in an argument over parking.

Robin Cross, 49, a veteran news producer at WSVN-Channel 7 in Miami, used the N-word to refer to her neighbor’s son’s girlfriend, who is black.

Cross’ neighbor, Robert Fenton, filmed her as she erupted over a long-standing parking argument Tuesday.

Fenton’s son, Avery Fenton, maintains that his father had asked Cross not to block his driveway with her car.

“You don’t f–king own the road,” Cross can be heard telling Fenton.

“Yes, I used the word f–king if you haven’t heard it before. Except for your f–king son who’s dating a f–king n—-r,” Cross continued.

“Finally, I said it out loud,” Cross says as she walks away.

It’s unclear why Cross invoked Avery Fenton and his girlfriend.

Avery Fenton said the pair had visited his parents’ house but had never met Cross.

“When we visit my parents’ house we just park the car and walk inside, it’s not like we are spending an extensive amount of time outside,” the younger Fenton told the Daily News.

“My girlfriend and I have never spoken to this woman and the fact that we were even brought up in the conversation doesn’t make sense,” he said.

Avery Fenton said his father and Cross have twice argued over parking in front of the Fenton home.

“When Ms. Cross does not block my parents’ driveway, we don’t say anything,” he said. “There is a spot in front of my parents’ house and when someone takes it and isn’t blocking the driveway, they are entitled,” Avery Fenton said.

Avery Fenton penned a letter to Cross’ employer to request that she be fired.

“I am not looking to ruin her life or future employment but I do think the punishment should be commensurate with what happened,” Avery Fenton said.

Avery Fenton said Cross used her press credential to threaten his father.

“Your employee reduced my girlfriend to nothing other than a slur based off of the color of her skin last night,” he wrote in his letter.

“I am simply looking to see your employee terminated, which I believe in light of the events, is fair recourse,” he wrote.
