An armed suspect pretended to kidnap his accomplice last week in what turned out to be an elaborate robbery plot in Georgia, authorities say.

Timothy Wingfield and Christina Day have both been named as suspects and remain on the loose after investigators initially believed that Wingfield had kidnapped Day while committing the robbery.

According to NY Daily News,Day and a male friend were in a Crossland Economy Studios motel room in Norcross when Wingfield knocked on their door at approximately 2 a.m. on Jan. 31, according to cops.

Wingfield, 30, waved a gun as he demanded the man’s possessions, and took Day with him as they left in the male victim’s vehicle.

Following the robbery, the victim went to a nearby Waffle House and contacted police.

Investigators initially said the woman may answer to “Kristen,” but she was identified the next day as the 20-year-old Day.

The Gwinnett Police Department announced Monday that the “kidnapping” was pre-planned by Wingfield and Day, and that she is no longer considered a kidnapping victim. Warrants have been issued for both of their arrests
