A man allegedly cut off the head of his drinking partner with a kitchen knife and then threw it out of the window.
Horrified residents raised the alarm after discovering the decapitated head on the ground outside a block of flats on New Year’s Eve.
According to Daily Mirror, the 40-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was arrested and is said to be helping police with their inquiries into the death in the city of Veliky Novgorod in north-western Russia’s Novgorod Oblast region.
Officers say the two men were drinking together at a flat in the block when they fell out and one attacked the other with the knife.They say the suspected killer decapitated his rival and simply tossed the head out of the window after committing the crime.
The suspect reportedly tried to flee the scene by climbing on to a neighbour’s balcony but was spotted by the resident who reported the intruder to police.
