Cristiano Ronaldo has vehemently denied claims he raped a lady in Las Vegas after a night out in 2009.

The 33-year-old Portuguese footballer, who plays for Italian club Juventus, has been accused of raping Kathryn Mayorga in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.

According to a lawsuit filed on Friday in Clark County, Nevada, Kathryn claims she was raped while she repeatedly screamed no. After the attack, Ronaldo allegedly apologised, ‘stating he was sorry, he was usually a gentleman.’

She also claimed he paid for her silence with $375,000 dollars.

Just a few hours after the suit was filed, Ronaldo also appeared in an Instagram video denying the allegations.

‘Fake. Fake news,’ ‘You want to promote by my name. It’s normal. They want to be famous, to say my name. But it is part of the job. I am a happy man and all good.’

Today, he tweeted:

‘I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in. ‘Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense. ‘My clear conscious will thereby allow me to await with tranquility the results of any and all investigations. (sic)’

Mayorga is seeking no less than $200,000 in penalties and damages.
