A housewife in Abuja identified as Hassana Angyan, has begged a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court to dissolve her over 30-year old marriage with Shuaibu Abdullahi, over his drunkenness, refusal to pray and battery.
Angyan told the court that she married her husband under the Islamic law and they have been blessed with 6 kids.
However, her husband has formed the habit of drinking beer and refuses to pray.
âWhenever he is drunk, he engages me in physical fight and beats me up mercilessly,â she said. Â She, however, prayed for the court to dissolve her marriage on the grounds of Abdullahiâs drunkenness, refusal to pray and constant beating.
Abdullahi, a cleaner at Efab Metropolis Estate, Dutse Express, Abuja, confirmed all of his wife’s accusation and said he would sign an undertaking to stop drinking.â
He also promised to be more responsible at home.
Judge, Abdulwahab Mohammed, however, asked Angyan to observe her husbandâs attitude and report to court on June 28.
