Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who played the behemoth Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane on “Game of Thrones,” was named the World’s Strongest Man after winning three of the final six events at the competition in Manila, Philippines, over the weekend.
“Want to thank all of my family, friends and fans for supporting me along the way,” the 29-year-old Icelandic strongman wrote on Instagram
Among the events were a 20-ton truck pull and an atlas stone stack.
Björnsson, who sits at 6-foot-9 and 397 pounds, is now the first athlete to win the World’s Strongest Man, Europe’s Strongest Man and the Arnold Strongman Classic competitions in the same calendar year.
