Mother of 4 sells her last child, uses proceed to train others

11 persons have been nabbed by The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP)  for suspected child trafficking, abduction and sale of children.

The agency  in a combined operation with the support of the operatives of the Directorate of the State Services (DSS) arrested them in different parts of Anambra state.

8 women and 3 men were, made up the persons arrested and they reportedly belong to a criminal syndicate that specialized in kidnapping and sale of babies across the country.

3 kids aged between 8 months to 4 years were recovered during the operation. A 2 – year old girl, reportedly stolen from Lagos sometimes ago and another 4 – year old boy who was allegedly stolen from his parents in Gudaba, Abuja were amongst the kids rescued.

The 2-year old was stolen from Okpoko in Anambra State and was recovered in Lagos.

Rosemary Okafor, 30, one of the suspects, confessed to selling one of her 4 children (Newborn baby) to one woman simply identified as Madam Pink at the cost of N350, 000. She said she sold the baby to be able to train the other three in school.
