Popular Nigerian journalist and a reporter for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has been put on blast on Nigerian Twitter.

This comes after human rights activist, Segun Awosanya, took to his official handle on the micro-blogging platform to accuse the journalist of threatening Seyitan Babatayo, the woman who accused singer D’banj of rape.

This newspaper recalls that Benjamin Ese had on June 3 in a Twitter thread accused Nigerian popular musician, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo also known as D’banj of raping Babatayo in her Lagos hotel room.

The alleged rape, according to Ese, who is said to be a friend of Ms. Babatatyo — on December 31, 2018, at an all-white party where D’Banj allegedly offered her friend some money to spend the night which she rejected until he surprisingly showed up in Seyitan’s hotel room at midnight.

This newspaper also reports that, Ms Babatayo in a letter written to the police and dated July 17, said she is withdrawing from her petition.

In the letter, Ms Babatayo, cited her reasons to withdraw from the case as personal.

However, following her withdrawal, Mr Awosanya popularly known as Segalink took to Twitter to accuse Kiki Mordi of ‘playing the role of the hitman’ to threaten Babatayo.

“Kiki Mordi is playing the role of the hitman under the auspices of the Coven sending threats to Seyitan and myself. We have it all on record,” he wrote.

“It will end in premium tears for her & their coven and she will be revealed for the monster that she’s become on this agenda. #EndRape,” Mr Awosanya tweeted.

Reacting to the development, the BBC Africa Eye Reporter who did not give a detailed response to the accusation said “if you didn’t hear from me or a statement signed by me, it’s not my truth.”

She said; “Guys I’m blocked by Sega I definitely can’t see the tantrums he’s throwing. I wish him peace. In the meantime he has my number and email and if I have committed a crime against him surely a man like Sega would know what to do.

“In case you’re wondering what my response to anything he’s saying is; if you didn’t hear from me or a statement signed by me, it’s not my truth.”

Kiki Mordi, the once celebrated reporter who was praised for her heroic report on the pervasive nature of sexual harassment of Nigerian women in universities in the country, has now turned to the enemy of Nigerians on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the lawyer of Dʼbanj, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), to has said despite Ms Babatayo’s withdrawal from the petition, the singer is forging ahead with the N1.5bn libel suit filed against the accuser.
