AKALA, the Former Governor of Oyo state who recently returned back to the ruling party was heard recently saying ” I can get anything i want in life if i could just help enough other people get what they want” . This wise talk of the former governor made many of us find him more worthy of the new leadership role he’s providing for the ruling party.
His decision to support the young, vibrant and determined ADELABU is likened to someone dropping his personal ambition for greater good of all and to him, this is what governance is all about. Without knowing where the pendulum will swing on election day, Akala has proven to be a major deciding factor in Oyo politics and in Nigeria as a whole, because many former governors have proven to be irrelevant in their local government, constituencies and states immediately they left office. AKALA lofty height in Nigeria politics can be easily attributed to his love for his kin.
In the just concluded presidential election, many supposed heavy weight politicians in the state couldn’t win their local government nor federal constituency election, AKALA not only won both but the unknown ADP presidential candidate got his highest number of votes in ogbomoso where a great personality in AKALA held sway. If the presidency can notice an elephant in ogbomoso , then the people of the zone should be happy there is a giant who is been encourage to not only deliver ogbomoso votes but to help sustain our state in mainstream politics of the South Western Zone, and to many of us, the task is an Herculean task that alone the former governor cannot fulfill but all of us together especially we the people of ogbomoso zone.
AKALA new role is likened to the role Moses played when he was to lead the people of Isreal to the promised land as told in Bible. The journey as led by Moses was filled with toils, joy, bereavement, miracles, new happenings,battle and war, delay,unbelief etc but they later got to the said promised land.
Politics anywhere in the world is an interest driven game, AKALA as an astute politician knows the interest of the zone will be well served in an APC led federal government. Tellingly, in 2015 Oke-Ogun zone played germane role in the second term emergence of Ajimobi and election of President Buhari. The zone got the state ministerial slot despite Ibadan’s desire to covet the slot, the zone got many state and federal appointments but ogbomoso zone only got two inconsequential commissioner slots in the state and no federal appointments except that of Mr. Sunday Dare the South West NCC board executive who got his, on account of his personal relationship with TINUBU as his chief of staff and personal media assistant.
Our posit to support,like and believe AKALA decision to join APC is premised on the fact that, it is the presidency who is desirous of his friendship and as a politician, should he reject the presidency’s offer and accept an offer that no one is offering?.
Lastly, let’s imagine what an AKALA can help bring to the zone, working in conjunction with a two term elected senator from the zone and a third term elected house of representative member.
Akala’s dream of a new Oyo State is a state where there will be equal opportunity for all. As we head to the poll come this Saturday, may Ogbomoso zone not be like that of Chutzpah, the man who murdered his parents asking the court to set him free on the ground that he is an orphan.
