Keyamo Calls For Release Of Videographer Behind Delta Viral SARS Video

Minister of State, Labour and Employment Festus Keyamo has called on the police to release the videographer behind the video which sparked the latest outrage against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Nicholas Makolomi was reportedly arrested on Monday at an undisclosed location in Ughelli, Delta State by detectives.

Last weekend, Mr. Makolomi released a video of persons which many believed to be SARS operatives shooting an unarmed man near a hotel. The police countered the claims.

The video led to a mob attack on an off-duty SARS operative Ohwovwiogor Fidelis at the Ughelli central garage axis. He survived the attack.

On Wednesday, Mr Keyamo had urged the police to release Makolomi and drop all charges against him.

“I urge the Police to release this gentleman and drop all charges against him,” he wrote.

“His wrong judgment of the victim’s state nonetheless, by recording the incident and releasing it, he did a patriotic duty as a citizen. This is purely a case of leaving the substance and chasing shadows.”

Keyamo had on Sunday denied that SARS operatives killed a man in Delta – his home state.

The minister said he spoke with the Delta police commissioner, area commander in Ughelli, and brother of the alleged victim who confirmed nobody died.

He said the outfit involved in the case was Operation Delta Safe and not SARS.
