A ‘feisty’ 103-year-old grandmother celebrated beating coronavirus with an ice-cold beer.
Jennie Stejna, from Wilbraham, Massachusetts, US, remarked that the Bud Light was ‘cold’ as she took a sip of it in her nursing home bed.
When the woman recording her asked ‘how is it, good’, Jennie said ‘yeah’ before taking another gulp and licking her lips.
Her carer then responded ‘it’s the best one, it’s cold’, to which the Boston Red Sox fan once again said ‘yeah’.
Jennie’s passion for beer comes from her love of baseball.
Her granddaughter said she used to sit outside and listen to Red Sox games over the radio.
She fell ill coronavirus three weeks ago, becoming the first person in her care home to get the disease.
Jennie, whose husband passed away in 1992 aged 82, was visited by her great-granddaughter Violet Gunn just before her health deteriorated.
At one point she was so unwell her family prepared to say their final goodbyes.
Her granddaughter Shelley’s husband Adam Gunn asked Jennie if she was ready to go to heaven, to which she responded ‘hell yes.’
However, Jennie made a remarkable recovery, becoming the first person in Life Care Center to overcome the virus.
According to USA Today, Adam said: “This feisty old Polish grandmother of ours officially beat the coronavirus. We’re truly very thankful.”
