The Presidium of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga discussed the effects of the corona virus on the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches in a special session today.
As a result of this exchange, the DFL Presidium proposes to the General Assembly meeting next Monday to suspend the game operations of both leagues from next Tuesday through April 2, including the end of the international break.
The goal is still to end the season by summer – from a sporting point of view, but especially because an early end of the season could have existential consequences for some clubs. During the international break, all the clubs should take a decision on how to proceed, taking into account the knowledge that is then available, for example with regard to the international game calendar.
With a view to the coming weekend, both the DFL and clubs will continue to work closely with the Federal Ministry of Health and the local health authorities at the respective stadium locations of the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga.

The game between Hannover 96 and SG Dynamo Dresden will be canceled by the DFL from the game plan. Previously, two players from Hannover 96 had tested positive for the corona virus, so that all professionals were ordered to take quarantine at home by the club’s local health office based on risk assessments.
The match between FC Erzgebirge Aue and SV Sandhausen, on the other hand, is taking place as planned, despite the fact that reports have been divergent in the meantime. The health department of the Erzgebirge district confirmed to the DFL that it can be held without visiting the stadium.
