Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag, has advised Barcelona manager, Quique Setién, on the best position to play midfielder, Frenkie De Jong at Camp Nou.
Ten Hag says De Jong is good at playing at the position where he can be supplying his teammate’s assists, adding that the Holland international is not a goal scorer.
Ten had coached De Jong at Ajax before the 22-year-old left the Dutch champions last summer to join Barca for £67million.
“De Jong isn’t a scorer,” Ten Hag told Ziggo Sport.
“He should be playing at the position where he would be in charge of supplying his teammates’ assists or who score goals from their position.
“I would have preferred to him and Matthijs de Ligt, who left us for Juventus, to continue playing at Ajax for many more years because they are top players.
“And having them in the same team you can go far in the UEFA Champions League.”
Meanwhile, speaking about De Jong last month, Barcelona head coach, Quique Setién, admitted that the midfielder has been playing in a different way for the Catalan club from the past few months.
