The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has set another pace in electioneering process as the institution yesterday conducted a violence-free election for the 2019/2020 Students’ Union Election on Wednesday, 13th November, 2019.

The election which saw the emergence of Fadare Blessing with a total vote of 1226 has been recorded by the students as the most peaceful election the institution had ever conducted, as against the time past when election in the institution had always been a tug of war.

One of the agents of the aspirants, Miss Toluwanimi Adegunle, said “The election is transparent and void of violence. It is a very applaudable initiative. Kudos to the management of the institution for that.”

While a general conservative opinion of the students about the e-voting seemed myopic before 13th November 2019, but after the election exercise, the students inadvertently had dished out accolades and encomiums to the Management of the institution.

Another agent of the aspirant, Alao Temitope, said: “In a time where the institution is keen about ensuring the security of students on campus, it is so welcoming that the institution could go for this method of voting.”

Though some students lodged complaints of server error and inaccessibility to the website at the beginning of the voting exercise, but as the election process proceeded, students cast their votes and were relieved.

Mr. Fawole Omowale, one of the security operatives in the situation room, commended the coordination of the election exercise. He further emphasized that the coordination on the part of the students was explicit because the settings of the election did not give room for violence.
