Suara was the first ever Muslim woman to have ever run for any position in the state of Tennessee. Suara’s mom is christian, she contested in 2014 in Bolivar, Tenn, for school board, in fact, the first one to run for anything.She ran before Trump because according to her, “I felt there was a need to add my voice to that conversation.”
Right now she’s the first one in Davidson County to run, but if elected, she’ll actually be the first Muslim, male or female, in the entire state as far as we know. There might be some history that we’re missing, but as far as we know.
