Mel B has revealed her ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy is ‘the love of my love and always will be’.
Expressing her regret over their bitter split, the singer detailed how she first met Eddie, 58, in her upcoming interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.
Mel, 43, reflected on their turbulent 2006 relationship, which was marred with him questioning the paternity of their unplanned pregnancy, but insisted he was her ‘soulmate’.
Daily mail quotes her interview obtained by The Mirror, in which said:
‘We had something special that I’ve never really truly felt with anybody else. Â
I’ve thought I’ve had it, but they’ve lied. His was pure. He is the love of my life. He always will be.Â
He showed me what true love feels like, and for that I have the utmost admiration and respect for him.’Â
Mel and Eddie first met at a party at his Beverly Hills mansion in 2006. According to her,he had planned a ‘massive dinner party’ to meet her.
When the pair first locked eyes on each other across the room, Mel said she ‘freaked out’ because he gazed at her with such familiarity she could ‘see my soulmate’.
After initial first date nerves, the pair hit it off with talks of tying of the knot within months of dating.
Mel said things turned sour after she got pregnant with her daughter Angel, 12, and she fled to Leeds in the hope Eddie would follow her to win her back.
But then the actor told a journalist in a TV interview he questioned if he was the father of Mel’s unborn baby and would need a paternity test.
Mel said Eddie ‘regrets’ saying it to this day, and the former couple had ‘planned that baby together and we were madly in love’ but it just went ‘dramatically wrong’.
Their relationship ended in December 2006, and by the time Angel was born in April of the following year Eddie was engaged to film producers Tracey Edmonds.
He was later proved to be Angel’s father.
