Facebook has promised to improve its privacy on the platform.
This is coming after the platform received so many criticisms for how the privacy of it’s users are neglected.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’founder via a blog post, has now outlined its plans to improve and increase the platform’s privacy.
In his words;
“As I think about the future of the internet, I believe a privacy-focused communications platform will become even more important than today’s open platforms. Today we already see that private messaging, ephemeral stories, and small groups are by far the fastest growing areas of online communication.”
The “privacy-focused platform” according to Zuckerberg will contain “end-to-end encryption,” which according to him will prevent anyone, including Facebook, from seeing posts being shared across Facebook’s platforms, to include Instagram and WhatsApp.
Facebook will still monitor for “child exploitation, terrorism, and extortion.” He said, “We have a responsibility to work with law enforcement and to help prevent these wherever we can.”
“People should expect that we won’t store sensitive data in countries with weak records on human rights like privacy and freedom of expression in order to protect data from being improperly accessed,” he explained.
