R Kelly has granted his first interview following his release from jail.
The embattled American singeR,, 52, who has been slammed with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four alleged victims, sat down with Gayle King on CBS This Morning. The interview according to reports, will be aired on Wednesday.
Via a teaser from the interview shared on social media, Kelly, vehemently denied all the allegations.
“They’re going back to the past and they trying to add all of this stuff now to that, to make all of the stuff that’s going on now [feel] real to people,” he tells Gayle King.
“Use your common sense. … Forget the blogs, forget how you feel about me. Hate me if you want to; love me if you want. But just use your common sense,” he says, raising his voice. “How stupid would it be for me … with my crazy past and what I’ve been through?”
“I didn’t do this stuff. This is not me. I’m fighting for my f****** life.”
“I beat my case,” he said. “When you beat something – we can’t double jeopardy me like that, it’s not fair, it’s not fair to nobody. When you beat your case, you beat your case.”
On the many accounts of abuse Kelly called them “not true”.
“You have never held anybody against their will?” King asked.
“I don’t need to. Why would I?” Kelly said, echoing his lawyer’s previous argument that “he is a rock star. He doesn’t have to have non-consensual sex.”
“How stupid would it be for R Kelly, with all I’ve been through in my way, way past, to hold somebody – let alone, 4, 5, 6, 50 you said – how stupid would I be to do that?” Kelly said. “Use your common sense.”
The interview has since gotten many talking on social media.
