Spike Lee was finally rewarded with an Oscar award yesterday, but the big detail we all took from his acceptance speech was him saying Americans must “do the right thing” in 2020.
He won the prestigious “Best Adapted Screenplay.” award for his movie “BlacKkKlansman,” which earned him a thunderous clap when his name was called after several years of being ignored by the Academy.
His speech was passionate and it revisited the history of an African-American that dates back to 1619, when slavery was the in thing. Lee proved his thoughts went not just focused on the new year, as he is already thinking ahead.
He appreciated his family and then spoke on the presidential election that is set to happen next year.
His words, “Let’s all mobilize, let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. LET’S DO THE RIGHT THING!!!”
It should be noted that Spike did not mention any names during the speech but the people seemed to feel what he was talking about as his message earned him a standing ovation.
Congratulations to the movie director.
