INEC just disclosed that every member of the NYSC that will participate in tomorrow’s election as ad-hoc staff would be pocketing N30,500.
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu shared this in a recent press conference.
After postponement last week, corps members who were enrolled to assist the commission as ad-hoc staff on the day were seen passing in unpleasant situations as they appeared stranded due to the unexpected decision.
Among the MANY complains INEC received from Nigerians after the sad pictures circulated was the poor welfare and allowances for NYSC members that were set to partake at the polls.
INEC, while shutting down all allegations regarding poor settlement for the Corps members said every allowances would be paid get to them as pledged.
Mahmood Yakubu said, “For deployment on election duty, they are entitled to transport, feeding and an honorarium of N9, 000 and N4, 000 making it N13, 000 each. For the presidential election, N17, 500 is expected to be paid separately to each member. Since no training will be conducted for the second election, he said that each corps member will receive N13, 000, making a total of N30, 500. That is the Standard allowance for corps members.”
