Photos are now released, revealing the identity of the students and staff who were killed after a former student of a college in Crimea went on a shooting spree and set off a homemade bomb before killing himself yesterday.
18 year-old Vladislav Roslyakov, had invaded Kerch Polytechnic College wearing a t-shirt which carried the Russian word for “hatred” emblazoned on it.
He then went around the school, on shooting spree. He shot people and also set off a bomb in the school’s packed canteen.
Eventually, he killed himself in the college library.
The death toll as at yesterday, was 18, but it has now risen to 21. Five people are currently in a coma and their condition have been described as “extremely grave”.
Faces have hence been put to the horrific scale of the college massacre. It became clearer as the faces the young people slaughtered in the mass murder emerged today.
Students between the age of 15 and 19, a mother and daughter, Svetlana and Anastasia Baklanova, aged 57 and 26 were among the victims.
Acts of heroism also emerged, as teachers diverted Roslyakov’s attention during his attack on the school’s annexed Black Sea peninsula.
Teacher Vladislav Miroshnikov revealed that adults at the college in port Kerch have had to “sacrifice their lives” to allow school students to flee amid scenes of panic.
