The Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has declared Falz – ‘This Is Nigeria’, Wande Coal – ‘Iskaba’, DJ Kaywise – See Mary See Jesus as unfit for the radio airwaves.
In a letter to a popular radio station in Jos, the NBC banned the songs from being played on radio because it contain vulgar and indecent lyrics.
Falz – ‘This Is Nigeria’ is a cover of Childish Gambino’s song ‘This Is America’.
Apparently Falz's line "this is Nigeria; look how we living now. everybody be criminal" has been flagged "vulgar" and the song is now declared "unfit for radio".
See why sometimes I can't blame our musicians if they choose to give social commentary a wide berth? pic.twitter.com/7bp3ZENluK
