Rihanna has made history by becoming the first black woman to grace the cover of British Vogue’s September issue, which is considered to be the magazine’s most esteemed edition.
Rihanna is seen donned in a bright pink Prada dress, Savage x Fenty gloves, as well as a floral headdress that sits above her pencil-thin eyebrows.
It’s new editor-in-chief Edward Enninful’s first September issue, and he was on hand to style the shoot for what’s tipped to be the most important issue of the year – containing 400 pages of fashion.
Meanwhile,Beyonce will cover the US issue. She has been given creative control as the cover star, and will have the freedom to write captions for the photos from her shoot. Bey has also hired her own photographer, 23-year-old Tyler Mitchell, who will make it the magazine’s first cover shoot to be shot by a black photographer in its 126-year history.
Addressing Tyler’s involvement, a source told Huffington Post:
‘The reason a 23-year-old black photographer is photographing Beyonce for the cover of Vogue is because Beyonce used her power and influence to get him that assignment.’ She has refused an interview though, because she’s Queen Bey and she does what she wants.
