An Indian man, Junaid Khan, 21, has been slammed with a five months jail term for being the admin of a Whatsapp group, where a message was forwarded.
Junaid Khan, a BSc student and resident of Talen town in Rajgarh was arrested on February 14, 2018, and booked under the IT Act and IPC Section 124 A (sedition).
Khan was part of a group where the admin, Irfan had posted a message that many members found objectionable. Locals filed a complaint at the police station against Irfan and the “admin”.
Khan’s family members, however, insisted that he isn’t the original admin of the group, as the original admin left the group over the forwarded message.
The police, however, said they merely acted on the evidence before them, which showed that Khan was the “default admin,” reports Times Of India.
Khan was arrested and sentenced to jail for five months.
