The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, and his team have uncovered a shrine located under the Opebi link bridge in Ikeja, Lagos, which allegedly belongs to suspected members of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC).
Edgal, who led detectives to the shrine yesterday, and have since ordered its destruction said that the operators of the shrine carry out trial by ordeal on those arrested.
Items found in the shrine, according to Edgal, got some of the victims tortured to force them to own up to a crime they were being tried for.
Edgal also revealed that three persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the activities around the shrine.
POS machines, mobile telephone sets and ATM cards belonging to some victims, were recovered from the scene.
