The ned of a match in Owerri saw a referee being assaulted to the point of unconsciousness.
Reports have it that the referee had officiated a match between Heartland of Owerri and defending Champions, Plateau United. he was, however, attacked by fans of Heartland football club following the end of the match in a 1-1 draw.
This got the Heartland fans really angry resulting in the attack as they blamed the referee for the equalizing goal.
