Passengers were thrown onto the runway when a stairway collapsed into a plane.
The Emirates flight was reportedly about to take off from Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Tuesday, when the stairway buckled over.
It then fell into the plane’s left wing, making a large dent in the engine. Rescue officials said four of the five injured were passengers, including a female American citizen, The Express Tribune reports.
A loader under the stairway also suffered injuries. They were all taken to hospital, where the American citizen was treated for head injuries. Airport officials told local media that the plane was departing for Dubai. But following the serious incident, the flight was cancelled and the plane was moved to a base for repairs.
