Akeem Jimoh and Rafiu Afolayan, two convicted thieves protested before a Lagos court that they were not armed robbers, but thieves.

Before both men were nabbed, they had broken into a shop belonging to a certain Mrs. Lolade Alanga in Oshodi, and carted away items valued at N3m. They were nabbed on their way to selling off items at the Aswani market.
Upon their arrest, they were charged before Isolo Magistrates court for conspiracy and stealing and the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Teluwo found them guilty and sentenced them to one-year imprisonment without an option of fine.
They however clarified that they were thieves and not armed robbers as they awaited to be taken to jail.
