Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to review the salaries of members of the National Assembly and ministers. Sanusi is pushing to see their salaries cut in half so as to create more jobs for Nigeria’s unemployed youths.
According to the Emir, a senator earns ₦36m monthly, while a member of the House of Representatives rakes in ₦25m. He continued arguing that should every federal lawmaker’s salary gets split in two, it would help in providing more jobs for 70,400 jobless Nigerians at between ₦90,000 and ₦92,500 monthly salary.
