A St. Louis man has been hit with felony charges after choking his girlfriend and killing her dog.

According to The NY Post, the incident occurred after 19-year-old Christopher Brown assaulted the woman in a St. Louis County home. However, amid the melee, the woman was able escape but she left her dog in the home. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When officials arrived at the scene, the found the home ransacked and the dog hanging from a metal pole in her garage, which was detached from the home. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As a result, Brown was arrested and hit with felony counts of second-degree domestic assault and animal abuse. According to the publication, Brown was also charged with misdemeanor property damage, with a bail set at $25,000. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It is unclear if Brown has retained a lawyer.
