A naked passenger caused an Alaska Airlines flight to turn around early Wednesday.
Airport Police responded to Alaska Airlines Flight 146 when it returned to Ted Stevens Anchorage International airport around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday.
It was scheduled to depart from Anchorage to Seattle, KTVA reported.
“There was a subject on the aircraft that had barricaded or locked himself in the bathroom, the lavatory,” Fire Sgt. Darcey Perry said, KTVA reported. “Flight attendants did find that the subject was naked.”
The passenger reportedly locked himself in the bathroom, where he took off his clothing.
The flight, which was originally scheduled to take off at 1:25 a.m., ultimately departed again at 6:37 a.m., according to the airline’s website.
Manuel Frederick and Andrew Tisba, two passengers on the plane, described the man’s behavior before takeoff as odd.
“Everybody saw that there was something weird with him, but nobody did nothing,” Tisba told KTVA.
“It’s sad that one person can have such a negative impact on a big group of people for seemingly no reason,” he added.
FBI agents interviewed the naked man back at the airport, Perry said, KTVA reported.
It’s unclear whether he was arrested.

Alaska Airlines spokesman Tim Thompson said that the aircraft turned around “due to a passenger not following flight attendants’ instructions,” KTVA reported.
“While no emergency was declared, pilots made the decision to return to Anchorage,” Thompson said. “Flight 146 arrived at Anchorage International around 2:45 a.m. and was met by law enforcement officers at the gate. The passenger was escorted off the flight by officers,” he said.
No charges have been filed against the passenger.
