Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has expressed excitement at his mother Martina watching him play live in the stadium for the first time in his 16-year professional career.

The Al-Shabab forward scored a goal during the game and dedicated it to his mother.

He shared a video on social media on Thursday, saying it was the happiest day of his life.

“For the first time since 16 years of my professional career, mama was able to watch me play live in the stadium, one of the happiest day of my life,” Ighalo said.

The forward sealed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Al-Shabab in February after his loan move at Manchester United from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua ended.

Ighalo, 31, announced his retirement from international duty in 2019 after helping the Super Eagles finish third at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he emerged as the top scorer.

His possible return to the Super Eagles has been a subject of discussion ever since.
