The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, in line with the directive by the Governor of Anambra State His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, has on Thursday, 3rd September, 2020, cleared some areas at Nkpor Express of mentally challenged persons roaming and causing nuisance for customers and businesses at the busy express.
The raid was occasioned following a call by a concerned citizen to the Honorable Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, who immediately dispatched a team of social workers who professionally and cautiously removed two mentally challenged individuals from Nkpor under bridge and Onira Garden Onitsha.
Consequently, the men, after a very tough rescue effort were relocated to Nteje Home for the mentally challenged for rehabilitation and reintegration back to the society.
