Police arrest two for attempting to secretly bury cult member

Delta State Police Command has recovered the remains of a cultist who was allegedly killed at the Cable Point Area of Asaba and arrested two suspected cult members for attempting to his remains secretly.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the victim was allegedly killed during a clash between two rival cult groups at about 7.25pm on Thursday.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said operatives of the command got information that the corpse of a suspected cult member was being smuggled into Onitsha for a secret burial.

According to him, it was learnt that the suspected cult member was killed during a clash at Cable Point in Asaba.

“Our men swung into action, trailed the suspects to the scene of the crime, recovered the corpse and arrested two suspects who were about to bury the corpse.

“The corpse of one Onyeka Enebeli was taken to Water Side and while they were trying to bury the victim secretly, two suspected cult members were apprehended,” he said.

Aniamaka disclosed that the corpse had been deposited at  the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba for autopsy, adding that investigation was ongoing.
