The Attorney General of Cross River State has reportedly been told to ensure the persecution of the man who raped a woman in the presence of her husband, in November 2017, in Okuni Ikom. the man is to be persecuted alongside 4 members of his gang.
The sad incident happened after the gunmen invaded a farm in Okuni Ikom, stole several bags of cocoa and proceeded to rape the wive of one of the farmers, while the husband was made to watch, as he was tied to a tree.
Women from Okuni community protested against the rape last month, demanding justice for their colleague as investigation showed the women protested after they learnt one of the culprits was released on bail without adequate sanction by the police, in Ikom.
Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong and theDG of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu, visited victim last week and revealed that the culprits have been rearrested and will be charged to court immediately.
