Daniela Vega made history at the Oscars Sunday night.

The 28-year-old Chilean actress, who made waves in last year’s “A Fantastic Woman,” became the first openly transgender presenter at the Oscars when she introduced Sufjan Stevens and St. Vincent, performing “Mystery of Love” from “Call Me By Your Name,” Sunday night.

Vega, a trained opera singer, began transitioning at 17 years old at home in Chile.

“A Fantastic Woman,” about a transgender woman whose boyfriend dies suddenly, won for best foreign language film.
