Ambode dissolves the boards of Lagos State sports associations

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state has approved the dissolution of the 36 State Sports Associations formerly under the supervision of the Lagos State Sports Commission.

Via a statement by the Executive Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Kweku Tandoh, the dissolution was necessary so as to enable the State Government to reposition the activities of all State Sports Associations in line with the vision to become the Sports hub of Africa.

The Sporting Associations dissolved were listed as follows: Athletics, Badminton, Baseball and Boxing, Cricket, Cycling, Chess, Darts, Fives Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Kick-boxing, Kung fu, Tennis, Rugby, Rowing and Yachting, Scrabble and Shooting.

So is Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tug of War, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Volleyball, Golf, Deaf Sports, Para Sports, Traditional Sports, Triathlon and Sports Medicine.
