Chibok schoolgirls abductor sentenced to 15-years impriosnment

35-year-old Haruna Yahaya has been sentenced to 5-years imprisonment by the Federal High Court sitting in Wawa Cantonment, Kainji, Niger State, yesterday February 12th, for participating in the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls and other terrorism offenses.

Yahaya pleaded guilty to the charges of terrorism filed against him by the Federal government.

Yahaya who pleaded with the court to be merciful in its judgment said members of the sect had come to his shop to force him to join them. He joined as he feared for his own life.

Yahaya continued saying on the day the girls were abducted, one of the Chibok schoolgirls w Mariama, pleaded with him to free her but that he told the girl that himself was also abducted by the sect members.

Yahaya was later sentenced to 15 years in jail.
