Aside the destruction of over 200 hectares of farmlands by the herdsmen’s cattle, of concern was the cold blooded murder of one female farmer Patience Salami said to be about 67 years old. After killing her, the herdsmen reportedly cut her body into pieces. They then carted away her tongue, heart, private part and breasts.

The incident, it was learnt, took place after most of the residents had travelled to celebrate the yuletide outside the community. Sunday Vanguard gathered that the herdsmen’s cows not only had a field day eating up the crops and destroying the farmlands, the herders also settled to operate on the hapless old woman.

Speaking with Sunday Vanguard, a friend of the deceased, Madam Bolanle Raheem, 65, said the victim was gruesomely murdered and vital parts of her body taken away by the herdsmen.

“I usually leave the community on Thursday for Akure, the state capital, so that I can attend mosque on Friday”, the friend narrated. “One of the farmers called me on Saturday to say my friend had been murdered. “I rushed back to the community to behold the dismembered body of my friend. “The activities of the herdsmen in the community are worrisome. We appeal to government and security operatives to come to our aid”.

Sunday Vanguard gathered that farmers, who resumed for work on the first week of January, were devastated by the level of destruction in their farms.

  1. Let all the South West governors continue to keep mute over the menace and the atrocities of these blood sucking demons tagged “Fulani herdsmen”. It is an hurricane that will consume us all.

I think the OPC should take over the duty of securing every of inch of Yorubaland from these uncouth predators. Yorubaland may soon become a colony with emirs.😑😙

  2. we are tired of these horrible stories. Where is the government Nigerians voted into power to protect their lives and properties? Since the government cannot protect its citizens from these Fulani Herdsmen gruesome murderers, let communities be given the right to protect its people. At what point us the federal government going to bring these Fulanis to book? Is it true that people with AK47 and other sophisticated arms who invade communities and kill its inhabitants in their numbers are faceless?
In Benue the Army claimed to have arrested a so called militia sponsored by the state government as soon as they arrived there yet the Perpetrators of the recent carnage in the State are walking freely, doing more killings, issuing more threats such as they did prior to the attacks and giving the same Federal government conditions. Yet the government is saying Nigerians are “accusing” the president of handling the Fulanis with kick gloves because he’s Fulani.
Assuming the so called accusation was not there, is it not true that he’s tolerating them at the expense of lives of Nigerians and for what justifiable reason? so cows are superior to the blood of Nigerians?
It’s time to talk and we won’t keep silent until the whole world hears then we would have at least made our point. I don’t have to be a Nigerian to speak out against the inhumanity tolerated by the government against certain groups of people in Nigeria. It’s just human duty bounding to do so.
